Determining simplicity and computing topological change in strongly normal partial tilings of R2 or R3

چکیده
A convex polygon in R 2 , or a convex polyhedron in R 3 , will be called a tile. A connected set P of tiles is called a partial tiling if the intersection of any two of the tiles is either empty, or is a vertex or edge (in R 3 : or face) of both. P is called strongly normal (SN) if, for any partial tiling P 0 P and any tile P 2 P 0 , the neighborhood N(P; P) of P (the union of the tiles of P 0 that intersect P) is simply connected. are topologically equivalent. This paper presents methods of determining, for an SN partial tiling P, whether a tile P 2 P 0 is simple, and if not, of counting the numbers of components and holes (in R 3 : components, tunnels and cavities) in N (P; P).

In this paper T , U are non empty topological spaces, t is a point of T , and n is a natural number. Let S be a topological space and let T be a non empty topological space. Note that every function from S into T which is constant is also continuous. The following two propositions are true: (1) L01(0, 1, 0, 1) = id[0, 1]T . (2) For all real numbers r1, r2, r3, r4, r5, r6 such that r1 < r2 and r...
متن کاملTau assembly: the dominant role of PHF6 (VQIVYK) in microtubule binding region repeat R3.
Self-aggregation of the microtubule-binding protein Tau reduces its functionality and is tightly associated with Tau-related diseases, termed tauopathies. Tau aggregation is also strongly associated with two nucleating six-residue segments, namely PHF6 (VQIVYK) and PHF6* (VQIINK). In this paper, using experiments and computational modeling, we study the self-assembly of individual and binary mi...

makes the intuitively reasonable assertion that, if region r1 externally contacts region r2 and is a non-tangential proper part of region r3, then r2 either partially overlaps, or else is a proper part (tangential or non-tangential) of r3. This particular topological logic, known as RCC8, has been intensively analysed in the literature on qualitative spatial reasoning; see e.g., (Egenhofer and ...
متن کاملThe Dynamical Properties of Penrose Tilings
The set of Penrose tilings, when provided with a natural compact metric topology, becomes a strictly ergodic dynamical system under the action of R2 by translation. We show that this action is an almost 1:1 extension of a minimal R2 action by rotations on T4, i.e., it is an R2 generalization of a Sturmian dynamical system. We also show that the inflation mapping is an almost 1:1 extension of a ...

For simplicity, we adopt the following rules: X, Y denote sets, n, m, k, i denote natural numbers, r denotes a real number, R denotes an element of RF, K denotes a field, f , f1, f2, g1, g2 denote finite sequences, r1, r2, r3 denote real-valued finite sequences, c1, c2 denote complex-valued finite sequences, and F denotes a function. Let us consider X, Y and let F be a positive yielding partial...
